Hope and Healing for Baby Josiah’s Journey

We never imagined we’d be walking this road but we know God is walking it with us.

We’re the Lane family — I’m Kaytlin, my husband is Jesse, and we have a 19-month-old son, Jonah. In just a few weeks, we’ll be welcoming his baby brother, Josiah, into the world under circumstances we never expected, holding on to faith like never before.
At 23 weeks, we learned that Josiah has myeloschisis, a form of spina bifida, along with Chiari II malformation. His lesion is at the S1 level of his spine, meaning part of his back didn’t close during early development. This also affects his brain, and there’s a chance he may need a shunt to help with fluid after birth.

The day we got that diagnosis, our hearts sank — but the doctors gave us something precious: hope. They believe that with the right care, Josiah will one day walk on his own. We believe that’s nothing short of an answered prayer.

We recently traveled to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston for evaluation. After much prayer and counsel from the medical team, we decided not to do fetal surgery. Instead, we’ll return to Houston at the beginning of September to deliver, so Josiah can be cared for immediately by experts who handle complex cases like his every day.

This will mean temporarily moving our family to Houston. Jesse will be taking about a month off work under FMLA, but it will be unpaid, and during that time we’ll need help covering travel, lodging, and everyday expenses while we’re away from home.

What Your Support Will Help With:
    •    Travel, food, and lodging during our stay in Houston
    •    Covering lost wages while Jesse takes unpaid leave
    •    Medical needs, equipment, and therapy Josiah may need after birth

We know not everyone can give financially, but we believe in the power of prayer. If you can’t give, please join us in praying for peace, provision, and complete healing for Josiah.

We hold tightly to Psalm 139:13–14 — “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” We believe God formed Josiah with intention and purpose, and that He is with us every step of the way.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for your love, your prayers, and your willingness to walk this journey with us.

With love and faith,
The Lane Family❤️
