I’m raising funds to help support my nephew Chaz Sliger and his girlfriend Lacey Howe’s baby girl Genevieve.

On December 2nd, Chaz and Lacey’s precious baby girl Genevieve came into the world and immediately faced challenges no newborn should ever have to endure. Genevieve has been diagnosed with Hyperlastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a critical heart complication that will require several life-saving surgeries, and is currently being tested for other genetic disorders as well. Seeing her tiny body work so hard to keep going has been both painful and deeply moving.

Genevieve is currently in the Cincinnati Children’s Cardiac ICU (CICU), and expected to remain there for several weeks, surrounded by an incredible team of doctors, doing everything they can to help her heal. Her first open-heart surgery is expected next week (12/08/25-12/12/25), and she will face several more surgeries during her first year, and possibly beyond. Chaz and Lacey are spending every moment of the day by Genevieve’s side, holding onto hope and celebrating every small sign of progress.

Our only focus is right now is giving Genevieve the chance to recover and grow. With mounting bills, and her parent’s need to be by her side every step of the way, we’re reaching out for support for them during this incredibly difficult time.

12/09/2025 UPDATE

Quick baby Genevieve update for those who have been following her journey... After a scare on Sunday night, where her heart was struggling to pump enough blood to her lungs and the rest of her body, her doctors decided to give her a one bag blood transfusion. Due to this scare, she had her first surgery this afternoon to place a stent in her PDA (blood vessel that usually closes after birth) to be able to remove her from one of her current medications. They also placed some flow restrictors around her pulmonary artery to reduce and control how much blood goes to her lungs and to the rest of her body. She is out of surgery and is stable, but is currently intubated until tomorrow morning.

They are still waiting on genetic testing results to come back before they perform her open-heart surgery. They expect those results soon, so I will provide updates when we know more.
