Hope and Healing for Andres' Heart Journey

Andres was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and has already endured four open heart surgeries since birth. In mid October 2025, he was diagnosed with chronic heart failure.

On Friday, February 27, 2026, he was placed on the heart transplant list and just 10 hours later, doctors walked into his hospital room to tell us they had accepted a heart for him.

On March 1, 2026, Andres received his heart transplant after an 18-hour surgery. This was the 51st heart transplant performed at Dell Children’s Medical Center.

On March 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., our world stopped. Andres went into cardiac arrest. His heart stopped for 27 minutes, but by the grace of God and the incredible medical team, they were able to bring him back. He is currently on life support. The medical team performed a procedure in his ICU room, and he was then moved back to the operating room for another open-heart surgery. After the cardiac arrest, the bleeding became harder to control. Even with blood products and medications that normally help stop bleeding, it wasn’t slowing down enough.

On March 3, 2026, they took him back to surgery to wash out his chest and remove a large amount of blood clots that had built up. Some of those clots were around his heart and lungs, which were putting pressure on them and affecting how well his heart was pumping and how his lungs were expanding. Once everything was cleared out, his blood flow improved and his heart function looked better.

They did find a very small bleed in a tiny pulmonary artery. The doctor said it could have been caused by trauma from chest compressions during CPR. They were able to stop the bleeding.

As of March 4, 2026, Andres is on the ECMO machine, which is supporting about 40% of his heart function while his new heart is doing 60% on its own. That is encouraging. The bleeding is currently under control.

Today March 5, 2026, he will go back into the operating room again. Once the doctors are in surgery, they will determine whether they can remove one tube, both tubes, or possibly all of them. They won’t know exactly what’s possible until they can see everything clearly.

My sister Jasmine has not left his side. She is unable to work because Andres needs her at the hospital. Life doesn’t pause when your child is fighting for their life. The bills still have to be paid.

We are starting this gofund me to help my sister and her family during this time of need

Our goal is to relieve some of the financial stress so Jasmine can focus on what truly matters: staying by Andres’ bedside until he is strong enough to come home.

Thank you for loving our family and for continuing to pray for Andres.
