The family of Amy Michaels would like everyone to know that we greatly appreciate any contribution to Amy during this difficult time.

On January 2nd, Amy was admitted into the hospital after experiencing a inter-cranial hemorrhagic stroke, believed to be caused by a burst blood vessel. She was intubated, sedated, and placed on a ventilator for some time, then received a tracheotomy to help her breathe while slowly waking her up from sedation. The process took a few weeks due to spikes in her blood pressure while trying to wake her up.

Currently, Amy is awake. Her old trach was removed and replaced with the smallest one with a cap to encourage her to breathe on her own. She is on oxygen as well. She still has a feeding tube and will soon go through the process of eating on her own more. She's unable to move the right side of her body so she will need rehabilitation care to walk again, but she is somewhat able communicate and respond. She has a long road of recovery ahead of her, but she is getting a little better each day.
