Since he was a kid, my dad has wanted a Mastiff. His favorite movie is The Sandlot, and he dreamed of having the dog growing up. When I was younger, I found an English Mastiff on Craigslist. We drove to Chino, and my dad fell in love, and we brought the puppy home. She was an amazing dog but unfortunately ended up becoming very sick at a very young age due to a disease called bloat, which is common in larger breeds. Our puppy ended up passing away, and my dad was extremely depressed.
Yesterday, my dad found a puppy that looked like a mastiff in a bushy area in Gardena by a bunch of warehouses where he works. The dog was super skinny and scared, but my dad had to get to work, so he left him for the day. My parents went back at night, and he was in the same spot in the same position. My parents were hesitant to allow us to bring him home because he looks ill, and we don’t have the money currently to support him, and we have 2 dogs and 3 cats at home. However, we knew we wanted to help the poor baby. I brought him to a friend's to bathe him. He had no fleas and was fairly clean for a stray, which lead us to think he was dumped. We are now keeping him in my backyard until we are able to see what is wrong with him, but he will not eat and has diarrhea.
His vet appointment is today, but he will most likely need a lot of tests and medication if his sickness is treatable. Whether we keep this dog or find him an amazing home, we just want him to be okay. Anything you can donate is extremely appreciated!
