Hi everyone,
I am organizing this fundraiser for my sister, Daiunna, who has recently received a life-changing diagnosis. Daiunna has been diagnosed with HER2- breast cancer. This is known to be an aggressive form of cancer, and she will be starting a rigorous chemotherapy regimen very soon.
Facing cancer is terrifying enough, but the prospect of losing her hair adds a layer of emotional trauma to an already difficult battle. For many women, keeping their hair is about maintaining a sense of normalcy and dignity while everything else feels out of control.
The Goal: Cold Capping
Daiunna is hoping to use a process called "Cold Capping" to save her hair during treatment. This isn’t a cosmetic vanity project—it is a way for her to recognize herself in the mirror while she fights for her life.
However, cold capping is not covered by insurance, and it is both expensive and physically grueling.
The Process: It requires wearing a frozen cap for 1-2 hours before chemo, all 8 hours during the infusion, and 3.5-5 hours afterward. She will have to do this every 2-3 weeks.
The Cost: The equipment costs approximately $1,500 just to get started, followed by $500 every month for the duration of her treatment.
How You Can Help
We are looking to raise funds to cover these cold capping expenses so Daiunna can focus on beating this cancer without the added financial stress.
Donate: Any amount helps get us closer to the $1,500 start-up cost and the monthly fees.
Share: Please share this link with your network.
Support: If you are local and want to support us during those long chemo days, please let us know.
Daiunna is strong, but she shouldn't have to fight this alone. Thank you for helping her keep her light shining bright during this dark time.
