As you know we have been dealing with that hematoma that was found about 12 weeks and continued to be a problem on and off for weeks. On Tuesday we had another ultrasound "scan" and his AFI was an 8 which is down from a scan we had at 23 weeks . So they sent us to St. Cloud from Willmar to get more testing done. Due to the tests being inconclusive and not sure if I truly ruptured my membranes they admitted me for observation for the both of us. Then next day we had another scan and the AFI was even lower. Between 3 and 4. A bunch of labs were ran too between Tuesday and Wednesday. Over all was good expect my hemoglobin was at a 9 and at 23 weeks is was at 10. I had been on iron every other day. Thursday we just hung out did more monitoring of baby heart tones. And chatted with a NICU doctor about would it would be like to have a 25 weeker, 28 weeker and 34 weeker. That we'd take it week by week and revisit at each of those milestones bc 25 compared to 28 weeks looks way different and same with 28 to 32 weeks. 34 weeks is similar best size as a full term baby. Friday came they did another AFI scan and it was a 5. During the ultrasound his heart rate was elevated so there was concern but I told them that he has been hire. But Dr didn't like it so she increase fetal monitoring to 4x a day for one hour. He would at times be higher and other times he in normal range for him was 150 to 160. So the plan became to keep scanning and go from there if I could go home and when. Originally it would be after 7 days of oral antibiotics was completed. Saturday morning I finished my last IV antibiotics and started oral. Saturday morning I had a great doctor and she was straight with me and told me that I would continue to be in the hospital until 34 weeks or sooner if I delivered. side note Darren has been coming every day to visit. On Saturday Darren and left to go home and we visited for a bit via FaceTime for the kids. While they were monitoring baby from 4pm until 545pm because he was having higher heart rate 180 average. Then my supper was delivered I ate at 6pm then at about 745pm while going to the bathroom I had a gosh of fluid and blood come out. But due to it going into the toilet it was hard to tell what it all was. And we monitored baby again for about 4hrs. So they placed a hat back into the toilet. I had a small panic and called Darren cry between him and my 2 nurses they were working on shift change were able to claim me down. Little later about 845 or 9pm I felt like I was leaking more and more. So I requested to go to the bathroom to change my pad. I went pee a little and then the right was watery bright red blood. Thankfully Sara was still in the room and I got up. Told her to come in she calmly asked me to go back into the bed and she called the doctor. Dr Anderson order a bunch of labs, fluids and told me to call Darren back her at 9:19 as she was very positive I have now ruptured not only my membranes but also possibly more of the placenta and baby need to be born. Things moved very quickly at this point. They were all sweet and calmed me down and walked me through things. By 10:01pm I called Darren asked where he was at and he was going past Albany. So I told the doctor this and she told me that he may miss the birth as will be delivered in 20mins. Will Darren did make it because of a little hiccups that happened: not starting the magnesium right, placing another IV and then still being able to feel the doctor poke me with something sharp. Once I couldn't they did their time out and the drape with up she started to cut. Then Darren walked in. Maverick was born at 10:40pm on 2/28 at 25 weeks and 3 days gestation. He will be in the NICU until his due date: he could maybe come home 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after. We are very best that everything worked out because part of the placenta wasn't working correctly, a new hematoma started to form behind the placenta and his umbrella cord was no bigger than an IV tubing.
