Over the past few months, our family’s world has been turned upside down.
Our sweet, bubbly and loving little Emma (my niece), began experiencing sudden and frequent seizures with no prior history. What started as a few concerning episodes quickly escalated into dozens per day, leading to an urgent hospital admission at Hospital Infantil Universitario Niño Jesús in Madrid.
For the past three weeks, she has undergone extensive testing, including a spinal tap, bloodwork, and ongoing neurological monitoring. Doctors are working to stabilize her seizures and determine the underlying cause, while beginning treatment with anti-seizure medication. While there have been small signs of progress, she is still experiencing 30+ seizures daily, and the road ahead remains uncertain.
Her parents, Jenny and Pablo, have been by her side every moment, taking turns staying with her in the hospital around the clock while also caring for their young son, Ollie, at home. This has required both of them to step away from work entirely.
To keep their family functioning during this crisis, they have had to bring in full-time, live-in childcare support for their son. They are also now looking for short-term housing near the hospital, as the daily commute back and forth has become physically and emotionally exhausting while navigating hospital shifts.
This situation has created an unexpected and significant financial burden on top of an already overwhelming emotional one.
How You Can Help
We are raising funds to support:
- Short-term housing near the hospital
- Full-time childcare support at home
- Lost income during time away from work
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps relieve some of the pressure so they can focus on supporting Emma through her recovery.
If you are unable to give, sharing this page with others and keeping Emma, Jenny and Pablo in your prayers means just as much.
Thank you for your love, support, and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
