Hi, my name is Kevin and I started this GoFundMe fundraiser for my brother Eric, his wife Priscilla, and their two sons Caden & Nolan who just lost their home in Virginia. Tragedy struck this precious family yesterday when their house caught fire and burned to the ground.
Eric was at work at the prison on a 16 hour shift when his security system alerted him of the fire. He called but couldn't get a hold of his wife and children as they had just laid down for a nap. Thankfully, he got a hold of his sister-in-law who lived nearby and she and her father alerted Priscilla about the fire. Priscilla had just enough time to rush her children out in their socks as they watched their childhood home burst into flames. She sent our family a group text shortly after that read, "We lost everything. Please pray for us." I tried to reach my brother Eric as he rushed home through the mountains. He left me a voice message through tears that read, "Kevin, our house just burned down. Tell Mom and Dad that everyone is safe."
I am so thankful to God that He kept my family safe yesterday, but I also know they are really hurting right now. As I write this in tears, my heart is completely broken for Eric, Priscilla, Caden, and Nolan. You can't ask for a more loving, kind, and generous family who will do anything for anyone. They are all active members of their church and love the Lord. Eric served in the Marine Corp, signing up after 9/11 to protect our country. He now serves his community as a prison security officer, often working overtime to make ends meet for his family.
Priscilla does an amazing job homeschooling her children and taking care of their sheep farm while Eric is at work. They invest so much in their children who are involved in piano and voice lessons as well as their local 4-H club. Last year, Priscilla started raising giant pumpkins with her family after their boys were inspired at Dollywood's pumpkin festival. Although it was their first time, they dreamed big and did so well they were featured in several news stories throughout the state. They even received the honor to display their giant pumpkins at Dollywood, bringing joy to so many people.
What makes this all even harder is that their oldest boy Caden was hospitalized over Christmas and they are still paying off his medical bills. Eric told me that the boys had actually opened their Christmas presents the morning before the fire.
Eric and Priscilla are both hard workers and haven't asked for anything but your prayers. Let's give the Edwards Family hope during this tough season. Just like their pumpkins, let's give them GIANT hope! They dreamed BIG and let's dream BIG for them! Let's break ground and build them a house! A home! A new beginning! We love you Eric, Priscilla, Caden, and Nolan! We are with you through this!
