In the midst of Gaza, a narrative of strength and empathy is waiting to be shared and embraced.
Dear friends and compassionate supporters, My name is Ayah Khalil and I work as an English-Arabic translator. Life in Gaza City was once filled with the laughter of my three brothers, the wisdom of my parents, and the warmth of my sick grandmother.
The outbreak of war shattered our peaceful existence, forcing us to flee our home in Gaza city and seek safety in south Gaza in Rafah. Our modest home, a sanctuary filled with memories of happier times, was reduced to a pile of debris by the indiscriminate forces of war.
Now, we find ourselves among the countless displaced families, living in makeshift tents that offer little protection from the harsh realities of our new reality.
We have displaced several times, the entire neighbourhood is destroyed, we didn’t even recognise that it was our neighbourhood because of the huge damages.
We evacuated to the south as the occupation ordered, but there’s nothing called safe place now, the occupation bomb any place we faced further challenges when Israel claimed the South as a safe zone but later distributed leaflets
,prompting us to evacuate again.
We don’t have the luxury of shower, if you are lucky you can have a shower once per month. We were poisoned and infected with cholera because of the unhealthy water that we drink. My little brother Yassir is 15 years old and my grandfather is 78 years old wake up shivering from the cold, but we can not do anything because we don’t have enough blankets to cover our bodies. I used to love winter, but I realised how bad winter could be.
My dad lost 15 kilos of his weight because of the lack of food, medical care and water that we are suffering from, he always says “the most important thing is that we still alive”.
As we endure the hardships of displacement, poverty, and uncertainty, we draw strength from the resilience that has defined our community for generations.
The only way for us to survive is to leave Gaza through the Egyptian borders - namely through the Rafah crossing point. However, in order to leave Rafah crossing you are currently required to pay USD 5000 per person.
Please make our dream come true by being in a safe place and the only way to achieve our dream is by your donations and help.
We need 5000$ for every person of my family, my beautiful mother Mariam Shadeh , my beloved grandfather Azeza Eisa, my precious dad Mohammad Khalil, My brother Yassir Khalil, my brother Abdullah Khalil, my brother Ahmed Khaliland his wife Aseel Abujahal
What is happening in Gaza cannot be described in words. We pray every day to stay alive. For this reason, I am reaching out to you all. Our goal is 40000$ and I am sure that with your generosity we can achieve this. Help us to survive and you can rest assured that all your donations will 100% reach us.
Please continue to share our GoFundMe link with your friends, family, and networks. Every contribution matters.
Thank you our compassionate friends and supporters.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Aya
