Dear compassionate souls, my name is Mohammad Eid, I just graduated from The Islamic universty of gaza, faculty of engineering, mechanical engineering, and I come to you from the heart of Gaza, where every day feels like a battle for survival. I wish I could paint a picture of the agony we endure here, particularly in northern Gaza, but words often fall short when it comes to capturing the relentless terror that engulfs us.
At just 24 years old, I've already weathered through four wars, each leaving scars too deep to heal. The horrors of war aren't just distant headlines for us; they're the stark reality that we confront with every breath we take. My family and I have been forced to flee our home six times, seeking refuge from the relentless onslaught of rockets and artillery.
But amidst the chaos, there are two looming threats that haunt us relentlessly. Firstly, the blockade has strangled our access to basic necessities, leaving us on the brink of starvation. And secondly, the bombing of the children's hospital has left my brother, Baraa’, in dire need of urgent medical attention for his hyperlipidemia. His condition, compounded by the lack of medical supplies, hangs over us like a dark cloud of despair.
To add to our anguish, my mother battles both diabetes and hypertension, her medication now a luxury we can ill afford. Scheduled for a life-saving heart valve bypass surgery in November 2023, the war's relentless grip has snatched away even the hope of her recovery.
We are now taking refuge in a small tent after the occupation destroyed our home, under terrible conditions, full of fear, hunger, extreme cold, and health from diseases. Life in this makeshift shelter is a daily struggle against the bitter cold and the looming threat of disease.
The weight of these burdens is crushing, and I fear that with each passing day, I may lose the ones I hold dearest to me—not just to the brutality of war, but to the merciless grip of their own failing health.
Your generosity could be the beacon of hope amidst this sea of despair, offering us a lifeline when all seems lost. Every contribution, no matter how small, could mean the world of a difference to us—keeping hunger at bay, securing vital medical care for my brother, and ensuring my mother's chance at life.
Please, if your heart resonates with our plight, extend your hand in kindness and help us emerge from the darkness into the light of a better tomorrow.
