Hope After Odette

Super typhoon Odette (also called typhoon Rai) has devastated the Visayas, the area where most of my family lives. It hit around 10pm local time on Thursday, tearing trees and buildings to shreds.

 

I have a very large extended family, most of whom live in Cebu. Most of my family lost their homes and all their posessions. They face the possibility of spending Christmas without enough food, clean water, shelter or dry clothes. They are at risk of malaria, getting sick from drinking non-potable water, infections, not to mention covid.

 

Please help my family can rebuild their homes, buy food and water and be safe and dry this Christmas.

 

HOW WILL THE MONEY BE SPENT

 

We have a large extended family, there are altogether about 20 families we hope to help. Whatever we get will be divided evenly between them.

$1000 - $50 each, 1800 pesos per family. Enough to buy food and supplies to keep them going for a week


$2000 - $100 each, 3600 pesos per family. they can also buy some wood and nails to make repairs.


$3000 - $150 each 5000 pesos would be a life-changing amount - enough to rebuild their homes and make a fresh start in 2022.

 

TIMELINE

 

The next few days/weeks, we won't be able to do much but watch the news and wait for essential services to be restored. Once the money transfer systems are back online and shops are able to be stocked, my mum and I will send them some money to buy supplies. We will keep running this campaign till the end of January where we will divide the donated funds and send it via western union to the families, hopefully enough to help them get their lives back on track.

 

We will share with you the progress and results, as well as on the ground news from the people affected.
