In September 2025, our family suffered the unimaginable loss of Kaydence and William’s beautiful baby girl, Willow. Willow was just eight and a half months old when she tragically and unexpectedly passed away at Kalgoorlie Hospital.

There are no words to describe the heartbreak of losing a child, and as Willow’s nanny, watching my daughter and William live through that loss has been one of the hardest things I have ever experienced.

Now, Kaydence and William are expecting another precious baby.

Originally, Kaydence felt comfortable with the idea of giving birth in Kalgoorlie. She had been trying to move forward and believed she could return to the hospital where Willow passed away. But since the recent news reports and information surrounding Willow’s death have come to light, Kaydence’s feelings have changed dramatically.

The reports have brought back so much of the trauma and grief she has been carrying. They have also left her struggling with trust and confidence in returning to the same hospital to give birth. What she once felt she could cope with now feels overwhelming and frightening.

As her mum, I cannot stand by and watch my daughter face something so deeply traumatic when there is another option available.

We want to give Kaydence and William the opportunity to travel to Perth to have their baby at King Edward Memorial Hospital, where they can feel safer, supported and more comfortable during what should be such a precious time.

There is a short timeframe involved. Kaydence needs to be in Perth by the 21st of August to start having face to face appointments and some extra scans to check on baby. This means we have very little time to arrange everything.

The cost of staying in Perth for the required period is also significant. We are expecting accommodation alone to cost a minimum of $8,000–$9,000, before taking into account travel, food, transport and the other everyday expenses that come with being away from home for an extended period.

That is why we are reaching out for help.

As her mum, my greatest wish is to see Kaydence walk into this next chapter with hope rather than fear. After everything she has endured, she deserves the chance to welcome her baby into the world in an environment where she feels safe, supported and cared for.

We know that times are difficult for many people, and we don’t take any support for granted. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us get Kaydence and William to Perth and give Kaydence the opportunity to have the birth experience she needs after everything she has been through.
