Chrissy's Medical Mistake Fund

Donation protected
Dear friends,

For those of you who don't know, my niece Christina just went through a near death situation due to a horrible medical mistake.  She went in for a routine gallbladder surgery in April.  After being sent home immediately after surgery, Chrissy started to feel very ill, was having a hard time breathing and suddenly there was a pain in her stomach like she never felt before. Chrissy’s screams of pain were terrifying for her husband and 3 children.  Anyone that knows Chrissy, knows that she doesn't show pain and she never complains. Her husband Shawn and her kids knew something was terribly wrong.  Shawn called 911 and she was rushed to the ER.  For days, they could not figure out what was wrong with her.  While in the hospital she got pneumonia and the pain worsened.  Chrissy was transferred to 3 different hospitals. They were  trying to find a diagnosis or someone to do the procedure  because she was getting weaker and weaker.  Finally, she did get a diagnosis.  The Doctor that performed her surgery had not closed the bile duct after he removed her gallbladder and all the bile was leaking into her abdomen for days now. She was sent home without it being closed up because they weren't able to do the procedure.  After a few tries, they said they couldn't close the bile duct without surgery.  So now she has pneumonia, an open bile duct still draining and filling her body with poison and then they tell her that now she also has pancreatitis because of all of this.   The first ECRP attempt failed.  That is a stent that is temporarily placed to try and close the leak so that it may heal, but they are not sure if it worked because Chrissy is still in so much pain and ill.  She sleeps on her couch sitting up because she is not able to lay down in her bed without getting sick or be stricken with pain.
Shawn decided that if Chrissy can't sleep in the bed with him, then he's just going to push the couch and love seat together so they can still cuddle. This fund has been started in support of Chrissy, her husband Shawn, their 8 year old son Michael and their two beautiful daughters, Kali and Grace, ages 5 and 13.  Kali, Chrissy's eldest daughter had a stress seizure at her Grandparents while they were watching her and her brother and sister.  Grace would wake up crying for her mommy because she was scared she wasn't coming home from the hospital.
Shawns love for his wife, and three kids is unlike any other.  A family man 100% of the way.  He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone at anytime.
Shawn stayed by Chrissy's side day and night not knowing if she would make it through each day.
Chrissy was sent home not knowing if she was going to be ok and is still suffering from this ordeal.  After they got home Shawn found out that his mother, who had cancer and was helping take care of their kids along with her husband Scott  had taken a turn for the worse .  They did not tell him because of everything he was going through with his wife.  He had a chance to see and talk to his mother before she passed away a few days later.
Shawn had taken 2 weeks off of work to be with Chrissy in the hospital while they were figuring out how to diagnose her.  Now with his mother passing away, he had to take more time off from work.  With all the unforeseen medical bills and time off of work, they had to drain their savings, which was for the house that they planned on getting.  Chrissy is still not out of the woods and has more surgery ahead of her.  Neither Shawn nor Chrissy would ever ask for anything, which is why I am asking.  For anyone that knows Chrissy and Shawn, they know what strong, beautiful, kind-hearted, loving, and caring people they are.
We ask for your prayers and if you can, please consider donating whatever amount you can, because every little bit helps. This loss of Shawn’s mom and near loss of Chrissy are some of the things that makes you grateful for every moment you have with your loved ones and to realize that things can change in an instant. Let's work together and help them out and get back on their feet.
