Hoop op zicht ...

Hallo, ik ben Paul, 32 jaar oud en heel gelukkig samenwonend met mijn lieve vriendin Nicole. Ik ben chef-kok in een gezellig restaurant. Zo op het eerste gezicht een superfijn leven … en dat is ook zo. Helaas is er één mankement: ik heb een progressieve oogaandoening, kegeldystrofie. Mijn zicht op dit moment is minder dan 50%, ik heb een vlek op mijn focuspunt en deze vlek wordt steeds groter. Ook heb ik last van visuele sneeuw. Het wordt steeds lastiger om mijn werk en de gewone dagelijkse dingen te doen. Tot voor kort was er volgens de artsen, waar ik voor onderzoek ben geweest, absoluut geen oplossing voor dit probleem.

Maar wonder boven wonder kwamen we een artikel tegen over een oogkliniek in Berlijn. Ik heb direct informatie aangevraagd en binnen een paar weken kon ik daar voor onderzoek terecht. Het verheugende nieuws was dat ik voor behandeling in aanmerking kom en dat de kans op stilstand van de achteruitgang of zelfs misschien op wat verbetering 70-80% is.

Wat voor behandeling krijg ik? Ik word in de kliniek gedurende twee weken dagelijks (behalve in het weekend) 45 minuten behandeld met zwakke elektrische stroomstootjes die de gedeeltelijk beschadigde netvliescellen stimuleren en de activiteit langs de oogzenuwen verbeteren. Ik ga uiteraard voor optimaal resultaat!

Natuurlijk zit er een fiks kostenplaatje aan en de verzekering vergoedt helaas niets. En hoewel ik een hekel heb aan het vragen van hulp, ‘zie’ ik geen andere mogelijkheid dan het geld voor de behandeling, het verblijf en de reiskosten te vragen op deze manier. Ik heb hiervoor rond de 24.000 euro nodig. Wat zou het fijn zijn als jullie me daarbij kunnen helpen!

Unfortunately, there is one flaw: I have a progressive eye disease, cone dystrophy. My vision at the moment is less than 50%, I have a spot at my focus point and this spot is getting bigger. I also suffer from visual snow. it is becoming increasingly difficult to do my work and ordinary daily things. Until recently, according to the doctors I went to for research, there was absolutely no solution to this problem.

But miraculously we came across an article about an eye clinic in Berlin. I immediately requested information and within a few weeks I was able to go there for examination. The gratifying news was that I am eligible for treatment and that the chance of halting the deterioration or even perhaps some improvement is 70-80%.

What kind of treatment will I receive? I will be treated at the clinic for 45 minutes daily (except weekends) for two weeks with weak electric current pulses that stimulate the partially damaged retinal cells and improve activity along the optic nerves. I am obviously going for optimal results!

Of course, there is a hefty cost involved, and unfortunately insurance does not reimburse anything. And although I hate asking for help, I 'see' no other option than to ask for the money for treatment, accommodation and travel expenses in this way. I need around 24,000 euros for this. How nice it would be if you could help me with this!
