The age of the book collection at Edison School averages 15 years. We propose to add hundreds of titles and in addition to nonfiction titles supporting the curriculum, the additional collection will focus on high interest selections including award winning picture books, graphic novels, proven to help spark young students engagement in reading.Field Trips
Grade levels plan one field trip of their choice to support the learning in their classrooms. Students are more likely to retain information by participating in grade level trips. Field trips help reinforce classroom curriculum and standards by bringing lessons to life. School trips give students the opportunity to visualise, experience and discuss information on a subject. One of the challenges of planning field trips is the cost of the bus. Buses average $455 (4-5 hours) each. Typically two classrooms can fit in each bus.
Student Events (Student of the Month /Student Reward Store / Red Ribbon Week)
Incentives for students who are showing good character, academic improvement/effort and recognizing Red Ribbon Week.
