It is with heavy and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, our hero, and our protector, Ignatius Techie, affectionately known as Gaston, at the age of 55. Gaston was a bright light in this world—full of life, warmth, and kindness—and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Gaston was a proud Cameroonian man, deeply rooted in his culture and values. He was well known and respected both in Cameroon and in the United States for his generosity, humility, and willingness to help anyone in need. He touched countless lives and built community wherever he went, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
A dedicated truck driver, Gaston was working at the time of the tragic accident in Alabama. He was seated in the passenger seat during the crash and sustained severe injuries that ultimately led to his passing. His death was sudden and completely unexpected. One moment he was alive—full of plans, laughter, and hope—and the next, our world was changed forever.
Gaston was full of life every day and faced challenges with courage, optimism, and a smile. He leaves behind three children, who were the center of his life: the eldest recently graduated from college, the second is nearing the completion of college, and the youngest—his son—has been courageously battling cancer for the past five years. Through it all, Gaston remained a devoted, loving, and present father.
We are raising funds to help cover funeral and memorial expenses, as well as the cost of transporting his remains back to Cameroon, his homeland, where he was always homesick and longed to find peace. This loss came without warning, and any support—whether through a donation, a share, or a prayer—is deeply appreciated as we honour the life and legacy of Ignatius “Gaston” Techie.
With love, grief, and gratitude,
Presly Anguh
