Honouring the Life & Legacy of Mr. Ghebremariam G. Sium

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved father, friend, and community pillar, Mr. Ghebremariam Ghebreselassie Sium—one of the founding members of the Eritrean Community Association of Vancouver. His life was marked by over 30 years of service, love, and leadership. To know him was to witness humility in action. He uplifted families, built community, and offered unwavering support to anyone in need. His impact is impossible to measure—everyone who met him has a story of his quiet strength and generous heart.

He is now reunited with his late wife Meaza, a woman of deep faith and compassion who passed away 10 years ago. Together, they raised their daughter Adelle—a reflection of their love and legacy. Anyone who knows Adelle knows: she is the embodiment of selflessness, kindness, and grace. She has given so much to her community, her friends, and her family, while asking for so little in return.

For the past decade, Adelle has been a devoted caregiver to both of her parents. Now, with both of them gone, she enters a chapter where we must now be her village. She has carried so much—emotionally, spiritually, and financially—and it is our time to carry her.

The funeral and burial costs are estimated at $40,000, a heavy weight for one person to bear. This GoFundMe is our way of honouring Mr. Gebremariam’s legacy and lifting the financial burden off Adelle’s shoulders so she can grieve, process, and close this chapter without added stress.
