Maka Alleyne was more than just a familiar face in East Reading — he was family to all of us. A proud Caribbean brother, a joyful soul, and a Rastaman whose laughter, warmth, and bright spirit brought our community together.
We are raising funds to install a memorial bench in Palmer Park, a place Maka often visited and where so many of us shared time with him. This bench will serve as a space for remembrance, reflection, and community connection — a tribute to Maka’s life and the joy he gave to others.
With the approval of the council and local authorities, the bench will be:
A robust evergreen seat with armrests
Complete with a memorial plaque in his name
Built on a strong concrete base
Long-lasting and vandal-resistant
The total cost, including supply and installation, is £2,000. Once funds are raised, installation will take about two months.
Important note: If the full amount isn’t reached, any funds raised will be used to support other community memorial projects or improvements in Palmer Park in Maka’s memory. This ensures every contribution still honors Maka’s legacy.
This is something Maka would have truly appreciated, and it is a way for us all to commemorate his life and keep his memory alive in the heart of the community he loved.
Every contribution, no matter how small, will help us reach this goal. Together, we can give back to someone who gave us so much love, laughter, and togetherness.
Thank you for your support.
