My name is Scarlett and on February 16th 2026, we lost our beautiful mum Sharon. She was a caring, bright, warmhearted and vivacious woman who loved to treat all living things with kindness, from her neighbours and work colleagues down to the stray cats which she nurtured and took under her wing. Sharon was a devoted wife to my dad Stephen and doting mother to her 4 children and 8 grandchildren. She was taken from us so suddenly by a horrific infection called necrotising fasciitis which a lot of people have never heard of.

Necrotising fasciitis awareness day is the 31st May, this happens to be the same date as my mums birthday. I am planning to complete a 50 mile arduous trail hike on this date to honour my mother and support other families affected by this rare and life-threatening condition.
