It is with profound sorrow that we share the sudden passing of our dear friend and colleague, Paul “Nas” Sonko, who tragically died while on duty with the railway on 29/07/2025. Known affectionately as Nas to family and friends, he was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a warm-hearted, hardworking man. But above all, he was a legend—a larger-than-life personality whose humour, kindness, and presence left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

Nas had an uncanny ability to lift spirits—whether through a perfectly timed joke during a shift break, a witty one-liner in the yard, or that mischievous grin that said, “I’ve got something coming.” His laughter was infectious; his storytelling unforgettable. He made us feel, and he made us smile, even on the darkest of days.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Carole, and their family, now facing not only heartbreak but also the stress of unexpected financial burdens.
