Hi my name is Adrienne Tambeau, My brother's family is grieving a loss that feels impossible to put into words. On April 14th at around 9:00 AM, Nemo, my brother's fur baby, took his journey across the Rainbow Bridge, leaving behind a space in our hearts that can never truly be filled.
Nemo was never “just a dog.” He was family. Although he was always my brother's dog, he became a family pet as Nemo grew up alongside my brother Jeffrey from the age of 14 and alongside my children as well. For years, he was a constant presence in our home and lives, bringing joy, comfort, and a kind of unconditional love that only comes once in a lifetime. Nemo had a personality that would shine in everything he would do; he always had a way of lighting up every room he entered, and anyone who met him felt that warmth instantly.
When Jeffrey and his wife Kaylee started building their lives together, Nemo was at the centre of it, a part of every relational milestone, including the happiest day of their lives, their wedding day. Though they chose not to have children, Nemo and Theo are truly their babies. Nemo became Kaylee’s as much as Jeffrey's, and he is loved so deeply, cherished fully, and cared for with everything they had. Together, they also welcomed Theo, Nemo’s brother, completing their little family. There was never a shortage of love in their home, and Nemo knew that. Nemo and Theo know nothing but the kind of bond with Jeffrey and Kaylee that most people spend a lifetime hoping to find.
Just this past Easter weekend of 2026, Jeffrey and Kaylee came to visit us. Nemo spent those days doing what he did best, cuddling with everyone, soaking up attention, and giving love right back to every person around him. Those moments now feel like a gift we didn’t know would be our last.
Only two days after returning home, Nemo became suddenly and severely ill. He was rushed to Coverdale Vet in Riverview, where he was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. Despite how serious it was, there was hope. After receiving fluids, IV medications, and constant care, Nemo seemed to be improving. By Sunday, the veterinary team was even discussing the possibility of bringing him home.
However, yesterday morning, everything changed in an instant. A clot dislodged and went straight to his heart, stopping it immediately. The incredible team at Coverdale Veterinary Hospital worked tirelessly, performing rounds of CPR trying to bring him back. After exhausting every option, the heartbreaking decision was made to stop. Nemo passed away, surrounded by care and compassion, Jeffrey and Kaylee were given time at the vet to hold Nemo and say goodbye to their beloved baby.
Jeffrey and Kaylee are completely devastated. Nemo wasn’t just a pet, he was their baby, their companion, their constant. The grief they are carrying is immense and unwavering.
We are creating this GoFundMe to help ease some of the financial burden during this incredibly painful time. The cost of emergency veterinary care, along with cremation services, has been overwhelming. On top of that, Jeffrey and Kaylee had to take time away from work to grieve the loss of their beloved boy.
If you are able to contribute, no matter how small, it would mean so much to our family. And if you cannot, simply sharing this page helps more than you know.
Most of all, we want to honor Nemo, the love he gave, the joy he brought, and the light he was in all of our lives.
Thank you for helping us remember him.
