On behalf of Arya Farahani, we are reaching out to the community with heavy hearts to share a tragedy that has deeply impacted a local family in the Ottawa community. On the evening of April 23, 2026, Farnaz, known to many of us as Nancy, was taken from us in an unimaginable act of violence.

While the family grapples with the devastating loss of a mother, sister, daughter, and friend, they are also focused on the survival of her mother, Nezhat. During this same tragedy, Nezhat was critically injured and is currently in the hospital.

Nancy was a true light in this world. To know her was to know kindness, warmth, and a spirit that brightened every room she entered. She was a dedicated mother to two sons and a pillar of strength for the family and the community. We want to give Nancy the respectful and beautiful farewell she deserves, that reflects the love she gave so freely to everyone around her.

Nancy was the primary, full-time caregiver for her mother, Nezhat. Now, as Nezhat recovers from her injuries and continues to navigate life with dementia,the family is faced with the sudden and overwhelming responsibility of arranging for her specialized care. Without Nancy’s daily presence and support, the costs associated with Nezhat’s ongoing recovery, personal care, and specialized senior housing are immense.
