Honouring my Zia Anne Marie at the 2024 Sporting Life 10KM
Hey everyone!
My name is Emma Cusimano-Graham, and on May 12, 2024, I’ll be participating in the 2024 Sporting Life 10KM race while raising funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. This cause is deeply personal to me, as I recently lost my beloved Zia Anne Marie to cancer this past March 1st. She was not just my aunt but also my godmother, a guiding light in my life. Her extremely strong resilience and fighting spirit, even in her final moments, have inspired me to take on this challenge of racing the 10KM on May 12th.
My Zia was always the best cheerleader for me in life, especially at my track and cross country races. No matter how big or loud the crowd was, I could always hear my Zia’s voice of encouragement, cheering me on and pushing me to do my best. Now, as I prepare to take on the Sporting Life 10KM road race for the first time, I aim to push myself to new limits while honouring her memory. My goal is to raise $1,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society, an organization dedicated to supporting those battling cancer and funding crucial research ( More information on the Canadian Cancer Society can be found here: https://cancer.ca/en/ )
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. With the race falling on Mother’s Day, this 10KM holds extra significance as I know my Zia will be looking down, cheering me on from above. This one’s for you, Zia.
Thank you all for your support and love.
With Gratitude,
Emma ❤️
