Hi everyone, I'm Anthony (Tony), the youngest son of the late Lisa Jean Harvey Russell.

My mom spent her life helping others—from teaching in West Africa to sponsoring and providing a home to a family of immigrants wishing to have a crack at the American dream. To honor her spirit of service, I am using money she left me to buy a car for a rural Ontario family in desperate need of reliable transportation. I can no longer care for my mom, but I can pass her compassion forward.

I have already purchased a low-mileage Honda Civic (only 60,000 miles). I bought it below blue book value and took those savings to complete major baseline maintenance, including:

1. Engine & Fluids: New timing belt & tensioner, water pump, cam seals, battery, spark plugs, drive belt, and all OEM fresh fluids.

2. Suspension & Body: New front control arms, stabilizer links, ball joints, and rust remediation and putting on a fresh coat of paint. The salt up here in Canada is hard on cars!

Our goal is to make this car safe, reliable, and road-ready for the family without indulging in superfluous expenses. All funds raised will go strictly toward essential mechanical/structural maintenance, protection and safety. For instance repainting metallic surfaces to protect against rust will be done while bypassing purely cosmetic fixes—such as leaving the weathered patina showing on the non-metallic bumper. Non-essential comfort repairs like the air conditioning and radio are not part of this effort.

Long-Term Support & Sustainability

To ensure this family's long-term success, I am partnering with their nieces and in-laws, who are personal friends of mine. They are fully committed to supporting the family with ongoing costs for car insurance, gas, and future repairs. This is a team effort to ensure the car remains a blessing, not a financial burden.

How You Can Help!

While the car is safe and drivable now and has passed an Ontario safety inspection, I want to proactively tackle upcoming maintenance so this family isn't hit with big expenses down the road.

Your donations will fund:

1. Safety & Mechanics: New shifter cable, neutral safety switch, and a fresh mandatory transfer inspection (even though it has a recent safety inspection a new one is required each time ownership is transferred).

2. Tires & Suspension: Full sets of summer and winter tires, plus new front and rear strut assemblies and rear control arms.

3. Rust Prevention: Fixing rust inside the gas door that has perforated the wheel well.

Any amount helps give this family a true head start. I can't see you anymore, Mom, but I hope I can carry your spirit of love forward. You are deeply missed and we were lucky to have you... we were lucky.
