In 2019, Clay’s world was at its brightest. A 36-year-old father of two and devoted husband to Hayley, they had just learned they were expecting their second child when the unthinkable happened: a bowel cancer diagnosis.

Clay fought that first battle and eventually won. Life returned to a "new normal” and Clay and Hayley vowed to spend their downtime doing what they loved most - camping, 4WDing and exploring our Australian shores with their daughters.

Tragically, in early 2023 - almost four years to the day - a routine check-up delivered the news every survivor dreads. The cancer had returned, and it was aggressive.

Clay called the hospital "home” for many months, as he again faced the fight of his life with the same undeniable optimism he was known for. A fight he ultimately continued in recent years until he simply couldn't anymore.

On 12 March 2026, Clay passed away, leaving an indescribable hole in the lives of everyone who knew and loved him.

To his mates, Clay was the kind-hearted larakin who never hesitated to help a mate out. Now it’s our turn to help a beloved mate in ensuring his wife and daughters have the support they need to navigate this next chapter.

In lieu of flowers, food and/or other generous offers of support, we kindly ask that you direct any donations where it will make the biggest impact. 

All funds raised will assist Hayley with outstanding medical expenses, in addition to supporting Hayley in raising their young girls so the Watson family can focus on what’s truly important; honouring Clay’s legacy and the undeniable impact he had on everyone he met throughout his lifetime.
