Honouring Chief Brett Ogino

Donation protected
On August 20, 2025, our community lost a remarkable leader and friend — former Sicamous Fire Chief Brett Ogino.

Brett joined the Sicamous Fire Department in 1995, became Fire Chief in 2003, and later served as the community’s first full-time fire chief until his retirement in 2024. Over his 28 years of service, he led with calm strength, mentorship, and deep care for others. He was at the forefront of some of B.C.’s largest wildfires, received provincial awards for his dedication, and never hesitated to put his community first.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Brett was approachable, selfless, and deeply woven into the fabric of Sicamous. His sudden and unexpected passing has left a great void for his family, friends, and the countless people whose lives he touched.

Why We’re Fundraising

We are organizing a traditional fire service memorial to honour Brett’s legacy. With many people expected to attend, this fundraiser will help cover the costs of the memorial, including ceremonial honours, reception, and associated expenses.

Every donation, big or small, will help us celebrate Brett in the way he deserves — with the respect and gratitude befitting a life dedicated to service.

How You Can Help

Please consider donating and sharing this campaign with others who knew Brett, or who value the work of firefighters across our province. Together, we can ensure that Brett’s memory lives on through the community he protected and cared for so deeply.
