Honouring Catherine Galliford

Catherine Galliford was a force — a trailblazer, a truth-teller, and a fiercely compassionate woman who spent her life standing up for what was right. As one of the RCMP’s most recognizable spokespeople, Catherine was admired for her integrity and courage — and later, for her bravery in speaking out about systemic issues that helped pave the way for change.

Beyond her public life, Catherine was deeply loved by her circle of friends and chosen family. She had a sharp wit, a huge heart, and an unwavering belief in justice and kindness — especially for those most vulnerable.

In her later years, Catherine found peace in solitude, surrounded by the love and care of two extraordinary women: Barb and Shelly, a mother–daughter team who became her caregivers and companions. Their devotion allowed Catherine to live with the independence and dignity she deserved.

Proceeds from this fund will be shared between Barb and Shelly, in recognition of their compassion and commitment, with a portion donated to the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre (DEWC) — a cause close to Catherine’s heart, and one she championed throughout her life.
