RIP
Brett Waterford

1 November 1972 - 28 May 2020.

If rugby is played in Heaven, then Brett is up there now refereeing the game.

A loving husband to Cathy, father to Finn, and son to Kate, Brett died at home surrounded by his loved ones.  Just 47, he fought hard to win his battle with cancer, but in the end, not even him and his loving team, could overcome that.

Brett had many hats, a loving family man, loyal friend, firefighter, army reservist, a rugby lover and referee.

He was an accredited club AR at Power House Juniors (where he also served as the club's Junior co-ordinator). Brett undertook the referee's Foundation Course in 2016, and later that season received his Victorian Rugby Referees Association orange shirt.

It was in his spirit of commitment and loyalty to the VRRA that led to him being awarded the VRRA's 2019 Best Clubman Award.

Brett also received a National Medal Citation from the Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting Service in 2019 in recognition of his diligent service.

He was a much respected Sapper, and CPL Brett Waterford was awarded SOM and became a Transport NCO who was noted for always giving 100%.
 
In lieu of flowers, Brett's family would like to honour Brett's memory with a donation to support community rugby and refereeing.

The funeral service by Nelson Brothers Williamstown will be live-streamed to comply with CoVID restrictions from  2pm on Thursday 4th of June.
