Honouring a life with Lennox.

We have never been the types to ask for help financially, no matter how challenging things were in the past, and are aware of how difficult things are for people right now.  However a sudden death in our family has left us not only devastated but also unexpectedly in financial debt.

At the end of January, our sweet rescue bully Lennox fell extremely ill. He required daily visits to the vet clinic for 9 difficult days and the bills racked up quickly as we tried to resolve his immediate health issues. We were under the impression at the time that he would pull through with many more years of quality life ahead of him.

Unfortunately, his health issues did not resolve, and he ended up in the ICU for an overnight stay where he underwent further testing.  The results of these tests confirmed our worst fears, and it was with great sorrow and broken hearts that we made the difficult decision to end his suffering and let him go at sunset on Wednesday February 5th.  He was made comfortable, surrounded by his favourite caretakers.  He had his favourite shark toy with him, was held tightly by Esther with Christine in his direct line of sight, caressing his handsome face. As he left us peacefully, he was told the obvious truth in his last moments, that he was The Very Best Boy.

We are leaning on our community during this sad time and humbly ask for assistance in bringing the burden of these costs down. We are truly and immensely grateful for your help, no matter the amount. We understand that many of you may not be in a position to help.  We totally understand and are so grateful for all your messages of love and support.

The amount set in this GoFundMe campaign represents his vet bills for his last 9 days of life, and do not include his end-of-life care or cremation costs.  We value transparency and are happy to provide receipts for the costs accumulated.

For a brief description of what Lennox’s health issues were, you can read below for more details. Lennox was a foster-fail from the rescue Bullies in Need based out of Ottawa, Canada.  His initial age was unknown and we spent 5 wonderful years with him.  We have rescued another bully from them 3 years ago and continue to fundraise year round for them as well. #adoptdontshop #rescuebullylife

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your support and love sent during this time,
Esther, Christine & Dory (Lennox’s rescue bully sister)

More details on Lennox’s health issues and vet visits:
*We have left out some of the specific symptoms for his dignity.

Early in the last week of January, Lennox was initially diagnosed with Geriatric Vestibular
Syndrome (intense, non-stop vertigo), with a prognosis that this would resolve on its own
within 7-14 days. During this time he did not want to eat or drink due to the associated nausea.
In the week that followed, he required daily morning visits to the vet for medication injections,
subcutaneous fluids and weight-monitoring. Despite caring for him around the clock and
feeding him as much as possible by syringe, he lost almost 10 pounds (20% of his body weight).
About a week after his diagnosis (Feb 4), he took a turn for the worse, showing alarming gastro-
intestinal issues. He was stabilized at the local clinic, given IV and medications, a nasogastric
tube was installed, and he was transferred to the ICU for overnight care.
On Wednesday morning (Feb 5), we got a phone call from one of the vets explaining his test
results and prognosis, which included cancer (stomach and prostate), intestinal problems and
neurological issues. The next steps were all too invasive, and would have, at best, only given
him an extra year with us, and not high-quality.
We asked them to make him comfortable for the day, and we brought him home for a last few
hours together, before bringing him to our local vet for end-of-life care.
