Honouring a Dedicated Nurse and Her Life of Compassion

My wife is now critically ill, and we have been told that her time with us may be measured in days. I am creating this page while staying by her side, hoping to honour her life and the kindness she has given to so many people.

She grew up in a small mountain village in China, where becoming a doctor once felt like a distant dream. Through determination, discipline, and countless sacrifices, she made that dream come true—graduating from Tianjin Medical University with a degree in Clinical Medicine and beginning her career as an obstetrician-gynecologist in a hospital in China.

After immigrating to Canada, she chose to start again. She returned to school at Centennial College, earned her Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) qualification, and spent about 20 years working in long-term care homes in Toronto, Ottawa and Mississauga. There, she cared for elderly residents with patience, warmth, and dignity—treating them not just as patients, but as people who deserved respect, comfort, and kindness.

She was deeply loved and respected by residents, their families, and her colleagues. Many spoke of her gentle nature, her tireless work ethic, and her willingness to help whenever someone was in need. She was known as someone you could always count on—steady, compassionate, and kind.

At home, she was the same person. A devoted wife, a loving mother, a warm and generous friend. She cared for her family and friends quietly and completely, never seeking recognition, only hoping that everyone around her would be well.

Now, as her illness has progressed and she enters the final stage of her life, I am preparing to take time away from work to be with her—to hold her hand, to comfort her, and to make sure she is not alone. While we are grateful for Canada’s healthcare system, this period still brings unavoidable expenses and financial pressures.

We are seeking modest support to help with:
• Funeral-related expenses
• A short-term caregiving and living transition period, allowing me to stay with her during her remaining time

Our goal is $15,000–$25,000, intended not as long-term support, but as a gentle buffer during this profoundly difficult moment.

If you choose to donate or share this page, please know that your kindness will be felt deeply. Thank you for helping us honour a woman whose life was devoted to caring for others.
