In 2017, at just 35 years old, Sven was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal cancer and given twelve months to live. That was nearly eight years ago. In that time, he has defied every expectation—not just by surviving, but by truly living. He has met every challenge with strength, positivity, and an unwavering love for the people around him. He has never let cancer define him, and he has never stopped showing up for the people he loves.

Sven has always believed that “It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it, that matters.” (Epictetus). Through every painful treatment, every impossible moment, he has stayed true to that belief. He has poured himself into others—helping, listening, supporting—despite carrying more than anyone should have to bear. He has been a rock to so many, even as his own world shifted beneath him.

Now, as we move through this next chapter, we want to honour the impact Sven has had on all of us. We are creating a Legacy Book—a collection of stories, memories, and reflections from the people who love him. This book will be a gift to his boys, Finn (13) and Wilf (11), so they will always have their dad’s love, wisdom, and guidance with them as they grow.
