My daughter lost her grandmother, Zora, unexpectedly on May 11, 2025, on Mother’s Day. I am trying to raise the money for her cremation and celebration of life.
Saturday, May 10, 2025, my 16-year-old Olivia received a call at 7 am that no child should have to wake up to. It was her dad saying that her grandmother was in the ER and wasn’t going to make it. We got to the hospital to find she was found that morning unconscious in her bed at the nursing home. She passed due to an inoperable brain bleed. We later found out that she fell in the shower a day or two prior and no one reported it, nor was she taken to the hospital to be checked out. I then checked her for bruising or swelling, and she was covered in bruises on both arms, her chest, and her knee was bruised and swollen. It broke my heart knowing that things could have possibly been different and my daughter would still have her grandmother if the nursing home had followed Alabama state guidelines on seeking a medical evaluation after a fall in the nursing home.
Those of you that know Zora know she was a STRONG, beautiful soul with a big heart that would give you the shirt off her back. Life dealt her many difficult hands, but she never complained and always had a smile on her face. She was a SURVIVOR of breast cancer, colon cancer, and skin cancer. She worked two jobs while battling cancer, sick as a dog, but it never got her spirits down.
So I ask that you please help us raise the funds for her cremation to give her the celebration of life she deserves.
