My name is Kayla, and I never imagined I would have to write these words about my son, Zion.
Zion was born on June 11, 2016. He is a loving son, brother, grandson, and friend who has brought so much joy, laughter, and light into our lives. Anyone who knows Zion knows his smile could brighten even the darkest day.
From a young age, Zion faced challenges that no child should have to endure. He was born with a congenital heart condition affecting his mitral valve, causing his heart to work much harder than it should. Throughout his life, he underwent medical treatments and even four heart surgeries in hopes of improving his condition and giving him the chance to enjoy a full childhood.
Despite his incredible strength and determination, Zion’s health continued to decline. He developed severe heart failure, and his condition became increasingly difficult to treat. Over the past several weeks, he has endured prolonged hospitalization, mechanical ventilation, and complications affecting multiple parts of his body.
Our brave boy has fought harder than anyone should ever have to fight.
After exhausting every available treatment option, Zion’s medical team has told us there is nothing more they can do except keep him comfortable and free from pain. We are now spending every precious moment by his side, loving him, holding his hand, and making sure he knows how deeply he is loved.
On Thursday, June 11, 2026, Zion should be celebrating his 10th birthday surrounded by family, friends, cake, laughter, and all the things a child his age should be enjoying. Instead, our family is preparing for the unimaginable heartbreak of saying goodbye.
We have created this fundraiser to help cover the expenses that come with honoring Zion’s life and easing the financial burden on our family during this devastating time. Donations will help with:
• Cremation expenses
• An urn and memorial keepsakes
• Memorial service costs
• Medical-related expenses
• Lost income from time away from work
• Other unexpected expenses as we navigate this difficult journey
No parent is ever prepared for this kind of loss. While nothing can take away our pain, your support will allow us to focus on loving Zion and celebrating the beautiful life he has lived instead of worrying about financial burdens.
If you are unable to donate, we completely understand. We ask only that you share Zion’s story and keep him and our family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for helping us honor our sweet boy. Every donation, share, message, and prayer means more than words can express.
With love and gratitude,
Kayla and Family
