On behalf of the King family, I am helping to raise funds after the unexpected and heartbreaking loss of their sister, daughter, and mother, Yvette King, on Friday, January 23rd, 2026.
Yvette was the primary caregiver and sole support for her 22-year-old son, Jahleel, who is autistic. He found her unresponsive in their home on Friday morning after she suffered a likely heart attack. With guidance from EMS, he attempted to revive her through CPR until they arrived. Devastatingly, they were unable to bring her back.
Her loss has left the family grieving and trying to navigate arrangements they were not prepared for. A beloved member of her community, Yvette was a nursing assistant until she was physically unable to continue her work due to her MS diagnosis. Despite her disability, Yvette was always taking care of other people. If you needed to eat, she had food for you. If you needed shelter, her home was your home. She never wanted to see anyone go without. Her younger brother Eric describes her as, “the most kind, loving person who would give you the shirt off her back.”
The funds raised through this GoFundMe will help cover funeral and burial expenses, as well as housing support, basic living needs, and services that will help provide Jahleel with continuity and security after losing his mother. These costs break down as follows:
- Opening the grave plot: $2,432
- Concrete lining for grave: $1,000
- Double plaque grave marker: $4,330
- Funeral costs: $10,000
- Remaining funds will be used to help with Jahleel’s living needs
All funds will be transferred directly to the King family and used solely for the purposes outlined above.
Yvette leaves behind her mother, two of her brothers, 5 children, her dog Shadow, and a host of other family, friends and community members who will miss her immensely. Any contribution of any amount will help ease the financial burden of the King family and allow them space to focus on honoring Yvette’s life and making sure Jahleel is cared for with the love and dignity she always gave him. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page is also greatly helpful and appreciated.
Yvette’s family express deep gratitude for the kindness, support, and compassion shown during this painful time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
