Xavier Reynolds was more than just a mentee to me—he became a lifelong friend. We first met through the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative Mentoring Program when he was a sophomore at Hughes High School, and our connection only grew stronger over the 25 years that followed. Xavier was a passionate reader, especially of mysteries and thrillers, and he shared his love of books with the world through his YouTube channel, where he posted thoughtful reviews as 'Professor X.'

Tragically, Xavier’s life was cut short when he was murdered in Columbus. The senseless loss has left my family looking for some way to make sure that Xavier is not forgotten. To honor his memory and keep his spirit alive, my wife (Val Combs) and I are collecting funds that will be used to purchase books to be donated to the Cincinnati Public Library. Each book will carry Xavier’s name, ensuring that his legacy as a reader and reviewer continues to inspire others who visit the library shelves.
