It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William L. Gubry, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. Bill peacefully passed away on December 19, 2025, at the age of 89 in Lansing, Michigan, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Bill was a hard-working and dedicated man who spent most of his life as a skilled carpenter. He was an avid Michigan fan, rarely seen without his favorite team’s logo, and he also enjoyed John Deere tractors. Bill worked for 34 years as a carpenter and mechanic at Meijer Inc. before retiring 16 years ago. In his free time, he loved woodworking and building beautiful pieces of furniture and crafts by hand, many of which are still cherished in our homes today. He also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, helping to build homes for those in need, which brought him great joy. Although generally quiet in nature, Bill had a big presence with his infectious smile and quick wit. He was generous, kind, and loved by everyone who met him. Little children were especially drawn to him, thanks to his trademark Santa beard. He rarely said no and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Bill is survived by Diana, his dedicated and loving wife of 37 years. Diana selflessly cared for him at home for many years when he could no longer care for himself. We would love to take the burden of any cost out of the picture for Diana and help raise funds for her.
