My father, Wilfredo Bonilla, was someone who dedicated his life to serving and helping others. He was a talented orator, public servant, dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was a proud Boricua, passionate fan of all things Puerto Rican; a sports fan - loved to watch Basketball, Baseball, Boxing, Soccer, but his three favorite teams were the Lakers, los Criollos de Caguas, and the UCLA Bruins. Passionate, loving, dedicated, and charitable are the best words to describe my father. He led a career in public service for many years because he believed in the mission of uplifting his community and those most in need. He led many charitable campaigns in Puerto Rico and California, some of which helped hurricane victims, impoverished families, and cancer patients. In his advanced age, my father would become a cancer patient himself. He would go on to fight until he no longer could. His memory lives on, leaving a legacy of charity and kindness. My father met many people throughout his lifetime, one thing they would have in common is that they would never forget the passionate way he spoke of helping the common man. He organized, united, and led, naturally. He was selfless, never interested in his own pocket, but rather would seek who was in need. In this moment, I regretfully say that we are in need and ask for any contribution you feel in your heart to give. Donations will go directly to giving my father a deserved funeral. Thank you.
