It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of Walter Lee Smith, known to many simply as “Lee", "Walt", or "Carnal". Anyone who knew Lee knew the energy he carried with him. He had a way of walking into a room and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Lee lived many chapters throughout his life and met countless people along the way. No matter where life took him, he built real connections with people and made the most out of his chapters. Being fearless, caring, kind, and hardworking is honestly an understatement when describing the kind of man he was. He was the type of person who would show up when someone needed help and would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. More than anything, Lee was a devoted father. His daughter Kayla was his pride and joy, and to her he was a true hero. Everything he did in life was for his daughter and his family. In the last couple of weeks of his life, Lee was able to spend meaningful time with Kayla, creating moments that will forever live in her heart.
Lee also leaves behind his loving mother, Joann, along with many family members and friends who are heartbroken by this unexpected loss. At this time, Lee’s passing is believed to have been from a natural illness, and the family is still processing this sudden loss. The family is hoping to raise funds to help cover funeral expenses and related costs so that Lee can be laid to rest with the dignity and respect he deserves. Lee was a wise man, full of life and unforgettable energy. Anyone who ever spent time around him has a story to tell, because the impact he left on people was real and lasting. He was also the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need, and that generosity is something people will never forget. If Lee ever crossed your path, you probably have a story about him. If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing to help honor the life of a man who gave so much to others. The family also invites anyone who knew Lee to share a memory or story about him when sharing this fundraiser. He has many from riding his bike in California to building cars in North Carolina, or going to Denny's for holiday dinners with his daughter.
His life touched so many people, and keeping those stories alive is one of the greatest ways we can honor him.
