Braves legendary usher, Walter Banks started his professional baseball career in 1965 working for the Atlanta Crackers. On April 9, 1965 he worked at the first Braves game in Atlanta an exhibition game between the Milwaukee Braves and the Detroit Tigers. His Atlanta Braves career began in 1966 when the team started and he’s been employed by the team ever since. In 2002 he was inducted into the Atlanta hospitality Hall of Fame joining other Braves inductees Ted Turner, Bill Bartholomay , and Henry Aaron. Walter has always been a fan favorite and an Atlanta legend.
Walter now is now in the bottom of the 7th in his incredible journey in life giving smiles to everyone he crosses and needs full time care. As Walter transitions into his care facility, I aim for our community to come together and show Walter the love Atlanta has for one of their own. I am hopeful that through this fundraiser we can give Walter the same respect ,kindness, and recognition that he shared with every fan of the Braves , Falcons and Hawks.
