From a heavy heart, we lost our dear friend, sister, daughter, family, community organizer and ally, Vi Vo last night to cancer on May 20th during the late evening. She was a tireless advocate for our community, for equity and justice in public health. She attended San Jose High School and co-chaired CATT (Community Advocate Teens of Today - sponsored by SCC Public Health Dept.) . She was an active member of SouthBay APALA ( Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance - AFL-CIO). She worked on major public health initiatives; pushing for tobacco retail licensing, smoke free bars (patio areas) , COVID health care access and other multi-cultural coalition building. She was the first in her family to attend a four year university and graduated from UC Berkeley where she studied Political Science and Social Welfare with a minor in Women Studies. She continued her earnest work in Contra Costa County in which she founded the Contra Costa AAPI Advocacy Coalition. She is survived by her parents, Mrs. Kim Mai Vo and Mr. Luc Xuan Le and two younger sisters,Thao and Michelle.
Her absence will be felt and truly missed.
With her unexpected passing, we hope to garner support to help offset the funeral expenses, the medical expenses and other unforseen expenses from her sudden death.
Please share with others that knew Vi Vo.
