Honoring Veteran Alex Vargas

Donation protected
Our beloved father, Alex, recently passed away on 05/07/2022 at the age of 61. Alex was a wonderful father, grandfather, husband, brother, veteran, pet dad, and dear friend who touched the lives of those around him. He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, three sons: Alex, Jason, and Tonny, his cherished dogs: Snuggles, Bruce and Sable, and many friends and loved ones.

Alex dedicated his life to providing for his family and ensuring that his sons were raised to be upstanding gentlemen. He taught his sons the importance of morals, treating their wives with the love and respect they deserve, the importance of forgiving, and the significance of having a relationship with God. Our father loved telling stories and jokes. From being a teenager spearfishing in his birthplace of Puerto Rico to his time as a member of special forces in the United States Navy, his stories always left people wanting to hear more. His most prized stories though, were always about his family. Our father loved to write poetry in his spare time, was an avid fan of boxing and UFC since he grew up boxing and learning mixed martial arts. He was a disciplined and strong man who always believed in doing the right thing. He sacrificed everything he had for his loved ones and and would walk to hell and back for those that he cherished.

During the late evening of Sunday April 24, our father fell ill and was admitted to the hospital intensive care. During his stay in the ICU, he was in-and-out of consciousness, battling a failing heart, struggling to breathe on his own, kidney failure, sepsis, and Covid-19. When he was conscious and alert, he communicated with hand gestures and scribbles on paper, since being hooked up on a ventilator made it impossible to talk. The day before he passed, he made a great recovery. Dad was finally taken off the ventilator, feeding tubes were removed, and he was able to breathe, speak, eat, and drink, and his kidneys had recovered completely. He told us about his experience talking with God, told us about how much he loved each of us, how he met our mother, and ended his conversation with how excited he was to finally eat dinner. That was the last conversation we had with him. The next morning, he suddenly became unresponsive, lost consciousness, and ultimately passed away.

We are all devastated by our father Alex's sudden loss and were not prepared for the high cost of burial/memorial services and the upkeep of our parents' home now that he is gone. We want to give our father the memorial he deserves, to honor his memory, say our last goodbyes, and to provide our mother with some financial relief as we move forth from this unexpected tragedy.

We are currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of Alex’s memorial service and some financial relief for our widowed mother and their treasured pets. We would love to raise $10,000 by the end of May in order to be able to provide a memorial service for June.

Thank you so much, may God bless you all and have a wonderful day.

His loving sons,

Alexander, Jason and Tonny.
