It is with a broken heart that I announce the sudden passing of my dad Verdo Werre. Most of you are familiar with him throughout his 35+ years as a Funeral Director/Mortician with Wilson & Kratzer in the Bay Area and later with McNary-Moore in Colusa. My dad worked with hundreds of families over the years and it was his honor to serve them through one of the most difficult times in their lives. In 2021, he retired earlier and moved to Arkansas and was excited about the next chapter in his life when suddenly he was diagnosed with cancer (which he beat) but shortly after was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. This horrible disease stole the joy and excitement of his retirement. My dad recently had a fall that caused a brain bleed that required immediate brain surgery and suffered two strokes immediately after putting him in a coma. The prognosis was bleek but he did wake up and once again we had hoped that he would be with us a bit longer but that too was short lived and he passed peacefully at home on February 11, 2026.

My dad was (is) my hero, a loving father, grandfather and dear friend to all who knew him. He gave his heart to so many people throughout his life and it is with honor to be able to celebrate him one last time. I am raising funds to help bring him back to Colusa for a celebration of his life with the community he held dear to his heart. My brother and I are facing significant, unexpected costs with flight arrangements, hotel, a rental car and a venue for his celebration. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help us honor my dad's life and give him one last party before he rides into the sunset on his Harley. We are deeply grateful for your support and love during this time.
