Dear Friends, Family, and Patriot Community—

I’m launching this campaign with a heartfelt mission: to raise $31,045 to sponsor a guided trophy deer hunt at the Premier Whitetail Retreat on October 2, in honor of U.S. Army veteran Sgt. 1st Class Marc Dervaes.

Marc’s story is one of courage, resilience, and unwavering perseverance. While traveling with his convoy in Afghanistan’s Kunar province, his Humvee was struck—resulting in the loss of his right arm. Yet, Marc’s leadership shone through. He coordinated his own medevac and helped secure the safety of his platoon. He was evacuated to Germany and then to San Antonio for treatment at Brooke Army Medical Center and the Center for the Intrepid, where he underwent five surgeries and overcame serious infection.

But Marc didn’t let his injury define him. Within months, he adapted with innovative prostheses for kayaking and mountain biking, paddles in hand. He joined Heroes on the Water, empowering veteran kayakers and strengthening community bonds. Today, he serves as the Colorado Springs Community Outreach Coordinator—a testament to his service beyond the battlefield and a position he has held since 2019.

A guided trophy deer hunt at a premier retreat isn’t just a physical outing—it’s a therapeutic, life-affirming experience. It’s about camaraderie, healing through nature, and celebrating a warrior who continues to inspire us all.
