In Loving Memory of Tyna Marie Castillo
1981 – 2023
Tyna Marie Castillo passed away at the age of 42 in Needles, California. Originally from Rosemead, she brought light, laughter, and creativity to every space she entered. From a young age, Tyna stood out—not just for her sense of humor and fierce independence, but also for her talent and determination.
She grew up playing second base in softball for the LadyHawks and continued her athletic journey at Rosemead High School. Tyna had a bold spirit, often pushing the boundaries, and was surrounded by a loving circle of lifelong friends.
She became a mother early in life, welcoming her daughter Alena, and later her son Steven Jr. after moving to Arizona in 2010. Her life was shaped by many roles and experiences, and she faced each chapter with resilience.
Tyna worked at a law firm, studied nursing, and earned her degree in fashion design from Brooks College. She was creative, artsy, a great cook, and had a deep love for music. More than anything, Tyna had a remarkable ability to connect with others—rooted in her genuine acceptance of people as they were.
Tyna is survived by her two children, Alena (26) and Steven Jr. (11), her brother Robert, and her sister Cheryl. She has reunited with her beloved parents, John and Candy. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her vibrant personality, loving heart, and the memories she created with those lucky enough to know her.
A celebration of Tyna’s life will be held on Thursday, June 19th from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at Pierce Brothers in San Gabriel. Her ashes will be placed the following day, Friday, June 20th at 10:30 AM, at Resurrection Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her parents.
The family invites anyone whose life was touched by Tyna to attend and to contribute photos or videos to help create a lasting keepsake. You may upload them at the following link:
