From Tyler’s mom, Candace:
Tyty is the sweetest, most loving, old soul at his young age. It doesn't matter how bad of a day you were having, Tyler could absolutely fix it! He was born at 35 weeks with his twin sister, Callie. Callie was fortunately born with just low blood sugar that was fixed in a few hours. Tyler was born with Hydrocephalus, which is water on the brain. He had to have brain surgery at just one day old and had to have a shunt placed to drain the excess spinal fluid on his brain that had squished his brain and left him handicapped. He learned at a way slower pace and had to use a walker and/or wheelchair to get around. He has done so much physical therapy and was so determined to get to walking on his own as much as possible. He also has had a lot of occupational therapy and speech therapy. He always enjoyed school, was always on the honor roll, loves his teachers, aids, friends, and everyone around him. He loves bowling, the beach, video games, and he wanted to be a cop or firefighter. I can't even begin to explain how precious and amazing our boy is. On Wednesday, November 5th, our world was absolutely shattered. He called me from school and asked me to get him and mentioned that he had a headache. I brought him home and gave him some Tylenol. He came in my room and was watching tv and loving his dog, and he seemed to be doing better. I had to go drop his sister off somewhere and was gone for about an half hour. His dad called me and said that Ty told him that his tummy hurts and his head wasn't doing better. I told them both I would be there soon and we would go get him checked out. On our way to the hospital, we stopped for drinks for the waiting room, and Tyler slumped over. I had to pull across the street and had his dad call 911. I grabbed him from the back seat and put him in the back of my suv and checked his breathing and heartbeat. His heart seemed good, but his breaths were few so I gave him a few breaths until the ambulance got there. They packed him up and headed to Akron Children's Hospital and the family met him there. To make a long story short, Tyler never woke up. His shunt seems to have failed, and the spinal fluid squished his brain. We spent the last few days doing everything we could have to wake him up. All the tests show him as brain dead as of November 7, 2025. He is still on a ventilator at this time in preparation for full organ donation.
Our Sweet Tyler
It’s with the deepest heartbreak imaginable that we share the passing of our beautiful 14-year-old son, Tyler. After a sudden shunt malfunction caused a traumatic brain injury, our world was turned upside down. Despite every effort to save him, Tyler was pronounced brain dead on November 7th, 2025.
Tyler remains on life support as we prepare for his honor walk on November 11th at 5pm—a moment that will forever define the incredible love and generosity that filled his heart. Through organ donation, our boy will give the ultimate gift: the gift of life. It’s exactly what Tyler would have wanted, because caring for others was part of his soul.
We are shattered beyond words, yet we find comfort knowing that his love and light will live on through the lives he will save and the countless people he inspired. Our sweet Tyler will forever be our hero.
Please keep our family close in your thoughts and prayers as we honor our boy—our brave, joyful, and endlessly loving son.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever Tyler.
P.S. Love you more!!!
We’re asking for any donations to help with upcoming funeral expenses & to help ease even the smallest bit of stress from the family. Thank you.
