Dear Friends,

My name is Miki Nishikawa, and I am the spouse of the late Tomonari Nishikawa, a renowned experimental filmmaker who passed away in April 2025.

While Tomonari’s work has been celebrated at major international festivals such as Toronto, New York, Rotterdam, and the Berlinale, his films have rarely been screened in his home country of Japan. To honor his legacy on the one-year anniversary of his passing, I am working with his colleagues and friends to organize two special screening events this summer: one in Tokyo in July and another in his hometown of Okazaki, Aichi, in August.

As these events are being organized by Tomonari’s community rather than established festivals, we are seeking funding to make these screenings possible. Your support would help cover the following costs:

1. A bilingual (English/Japanese) brochure detailing Tomonari’s filmography and curation

2. Advertising materials, such as flyers and commemorative merchandise.

3. Travel and honorarium for guest speakers

4. My travel expenses

5. Making film prints of Tomonari's works

The brochures and merchandise will be available for purchase at the venues and on Tomonari’s website. These events are a heartfelt tribute intended to introduce his work to Japanese audiences and allow his hometown community to celebrate the global impact he made.

みなさん、こんにちは。私は、2025年4月に他逝いたしました実験映画作家、西川智也（にしかわ ともなり）の妻、西川美喜と申します。

西川智也の映像作品は、トロント、ニューヨーク、ロッテルダム、ベルリンといった主要な国際映画祭で高く評価されてきましたが、これまで日本国内でその作品が紹介される機会は限られていました。この度、彼の一周忌を記念し、有志の協力により東京と彼の故郷である愛知県岡崎市にて上映会を開催する運びとなりました。

本プロジェクトは、既存の映画祭ではなく、西川を慕うコミュニティが主体となって運営しているため、開催に向けた資金援助をお願いしたく、この募金の企画を設けさせていただきました。ご支援を賜りました折には、誠に勝手ながら以下の経費に充てさせていただきたいと考えております。

１．日本語・英語併記の作品リスト・日本でのキュレーション活動記録冊子の制作

２．チラシなどの宣伝物、および記念グッズの制作費用

制作した冊子やグッズは、各会場および西川の公式サイトにて販売を予定しております。
