On March 24th, 2026, my mother Tiffany Emerald Parrish was taken off of life support following a courageous fight. We are seeking support in funding her afterlife care, as this was very unexpected, and we were not prepared to be saying goodbye so soon.
Mom wanted to live, but she had a disease that separated her mind from her body, and she didn't have the will to fight for herself anymore. Her addiction led to terribly painful wounds on her legs, that became gangrenous, which eventually led to sepsis, (a severe infection in the bloodstream), in addition to this, she was diagnosed with endocarditis and vegetation in her mitral valve, which caused her heart to start throwing blood clots all over her body.. her spleen, and her abdomen. Her kidneys had lost function, so she was started on dialysis while in hospital. She received numerous blood, and plasma transfusion's, continuous administration of medications to raise her blood pressure & keep her comfortable and pain-free, and a ventilator that was breathing for her. At this point, it was a waiting game, hoping she could regain organ function, and that we could get the infection under control- in hopes of her being well enough to receive an operation to either treat her heart, or to have her legs amputated.. unfortunately she was not a candidate for any kind of surgical procedures. I received a phone call from her overnight doctor sometime around 1 in the morning on 3/24 just after getting to the hotel in hopes of getting some sleep, where he informed me that her condition had worsened, with a lactic acid of 28, and mottling/ blood in her abdomen, her combined problems were no longer compatible with life. I asked for reassurance that we had done all that we could for her, which we had, so, I as her daughter, signed her DNR form, and consulted with other immediate family members on limiting her care to, just keeping her alive and comfortable until morning, where we would then transfer her to hospice, and let her go. Around 12:20, her team came in to take her off the ventilator, and start her on comfort care, once the endotracheal tube was removed, she was surrounded by family and loved ones who sat by her side as she took her final breath at 12:29pm, by this time, we had discussed the what-ifs, and all agreed that we would have Tiffany, (aka mom, daughter, aunt, sister, friend, lover) cremated, and her ashes will be shared amongst immediate family, so that she would never be alone in anything again, not even in death. Tiffany, my mom will be cremated with CountrySide Funeral Home in Anthony, Florida, where the estimated cost including urns, fees, and certificates somewhere around $1500-2000, in addition to this, We will be holding a celebration of life on Easter Sunday, at Theresa's (my nana, Tiffany's mom) house, and will be having food, time to reflect and share our memories of her, and pay her our respects for putting up such a strong fight.
