Honoring Thomas “Big TJ” Almeida — A Legacy of Love, Strength & Laughter

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Thomas Almeida, lovingly known as Big TJ, who passed on April 19th at 2:30 a.m. after a brave and relentless fight against severe form of throat cancer. He was just 45.

Diagnosed in September 2020, TJ faced every moment of his illness with remarkable courage, humor, and heart. For nearly four years, he was cared for at home by his wife Alex (Xanda) his partner of 25 years and wife of 11. She stepped away from her career to become his full-time caregiver while also raising their three sons: Reggie, Noah, and Little TJ. Through every hardship, Alex remained his rock, a devoted wife, caregiver, and mom managing everything with strength and grace.

TJ was a true family man: a phenomenal father, a proud new grandfather to baby Ezra (Reggie’s son), and a dedicated husband. He was also the heart of every gathering whether it was a Patriots or Celtics game day (which he NEVER missed), a family dinner, or a spontaneous late-night debate about hip-hop, you could count on Big TJ to bring the energy! He was hilarious, knowledgeable, and passionate, especially about cars, music, and his hometown teams. As a successful car salesman, he made lasting connections with nearly everyone he met and loved sharing his expertise with friends and family.

We are raising funds to help support Alex and the Almeida family as they navigate this painful time covering funeral costs and helping with life expenses after years of financial strain brought on by TJ’s illness and full-time in-home care. <3
