In Loving Memory of Luz E. Rodriguez
12/24/1958 – 3/1/2026
It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Luz E. Rodriguez, age 67.
Luz was a woman full of light, rhythm, and warmth. Her warmth and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Truly a kind-hearted woman who never said no to anyone in need. She brought joy wherever she went. Born on December 24, 1958 Christmas Eve, she was originally from St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands — a place she loved deeply. The beach, the sound of the waves, gardening, birds, song and dance, most importantly family— these were the simple joys that made her smile.
From 1998 to 2019, Luz faithfully worked at McDonough Elementary School, dedicating over 20 years of her life to serving her community. Lifting the hearts of the young ones and families. In 2019, she suffered a devastating slip-and-fall injury at work that led to a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. Her health declined in the years that followed, and she courageously faced each day with tremendous strength.
Luz is survived by her beloved mother, Dolores Soto (88), and her two children, Naima Rodriguez (31) and Govanni Rodriguez (27), who are now navigating an unimaginable loss of now losing there second parent.
